The Scene Opens…

 

Peyton Rice, the beautiful young upstart in the UWA Cruiserweight Division walks downtown in jeans, an Ante Up t-shirt, thong sandals with her toe nails polished red, her long brown hair hanging down and her hands tucked in her pocket. Peyton lately has had to really reflect back on everything that has been going on lately, she has been attacked, watched a man in Shaun Cruze take a hard fall, so many things happening and yet she is still trying to keep her head above water. She looks up with her green eyes…

 

REC:

 

And speaks in her sexy, girlie voice….

 

“I really don’t even know where to start anymore. I’m still sore from a few weeks ago with the attack by Savali, again. I also have had to deal with the chair shot to my face and all the chaos surrounding NEWvolution and everything that has been going on in recent months, it finally has taken its toll on me but that will not deter from focusing on what is important right now, the second round of the Cruiserweight Tournament. Carter Caruthers, I don’t know you, all I have to go by is your first-round victory or Habanero. You are talented, cocky, arrogant, sure of yourself, making sure that ALL of us knew you were coming to the Division to compete, I get it. Beating Habanero is not easy, the UWA sports the best Cruiserweights in the World, we are the elite so that says a lot about who you are.

Well, let me introduce myself Carter, I’m Peyton Rice. See, I’m just a simple girl trying to live in a very complex world. When I trained to be a wrestler at Ante Up Academy, I wanted to do one thing, compete. I used to get the same criticism women as me always get, you’re too cute, too small, etc. I wasn’t going to have it, I look at Sienna Swann and Kelcey Wallace, former models like myself make it to the big time and that’s what has inspired me. All I ever wanted was competition, to take ownership in my life, to succeed and fail off my own merit, Shaun Cruze gave Ricky Octavius and I that opportunity, we were so pumped and ready to make our mark in this sport…

Then he made a mistake, ONE mistake and suddenly it’s a death sentence.

I now know how it feels to be an outsider, someone that is frowned upon for standing next to people you believe in. I have had my faith questioned, no doubt about it, I needed to look past everything that has happened to not only me but the people I care about most. From Owen Cruze, to Ricky Octavius to the rest of NEWvolution, the fans and everyone else including myself. Yeah, I did start to lose a little hope, I started to see things the way they might be and not how they should but that won’t change my stance on what I must do come Turmoil, Carter.”

 

She stops for a moment and thinks about all the things that have been going on lately in the UWA. She lowers her head for a moment before picking it back up and speaking….

 

“You are my next opponent and if I get past you, Carter I am in the finals against either Andrea Hernandez or Penelope “Piper” Street. I can’t enforce enough how bad I want this match, how much I want to go on to face Christy Hightower at Sectioned. My time will come no matter what but these are the moments where we need to start making things happen and I am at the point Carter where it’s my turn to make a name for myself, to start showing the UWA Cruiserweight Division why so many others started to worry when I signed, they called me the face of it, I never wanted or needed to be the face of anything but I’m also not going to be just another face in the crowd either. I made a promise to my father a long time ago, never to give up the fight. I see how he does it every single day of his life and it inspires me, if he can do it, so can I…..

And Carter, I’m not here to tell you any sob stories, I’m here to be straight with you….

I’m coming to Turmoil to win….

And trust me, it won’t be “Pretty”.”

The Scene Opens….

 

The beautiful Peyton Rice stands in front of the mirror, looking at her reflection. She has on jeans, a white halter top and matching wedge sandals. Her toe nails polished red and her long light brown hair hanging down. It has been a hard few weeks for Peyton after the last Outbreak and Turmoil. First, she was smashed in the face with a chair, the bruise has cleared some but still is visible under her eye. Then she was attacked by Savali, the monster who stands behind Piper Street. Finally, she saw Owen Cruze get piledriven on the floor by Blake Mason to end the show….

 

REC:

 

She hits record on the camera, not her cheerful self. She speaks in her very girl and sexy voice….

 

“So this is what the UWA has become? A place where they call it the land of opportunity, a promotion that wants to compete with the big dogs in this industry? A place I called home? When Shaun Cruze approached me about NEWvolution I felt honored, it was a chance to be part of something great, make a difference in this sport, stand up for what was right and work hard, allow your talent to speak for itself without having to insult anyone all for some cheap pop. When David Helms taught me etiquette, when Sir Matty Stone taught me ring psychology, when Tommy Valentine taught me moves the one thing they never taught me was to deal with adversity, I have to do that on my own. It’s easy to blame everyone else when you can’t find the answers to the questions asked. We let it a known psychopath in Cartel Next Gen named Thamuz or Jester Funn to be my mystery opponent and slam me in the face with a chair. We allow a monster by the name of Savali to continuously attack me every single Turmoil to the point that I expect it now and there is nothing I can do to prevent that?

We let a sociopath who doesn’t even belong in the promotion and was BANNED from being in the UWA to piledrive a sixteen-year-old kid!? My boyfriend doesn’t even know if he wants to continue in this crap because even when we try to do the right thing they criticize us for the sins of others but everything else is okay?

A lot of you talk about how life is unfair?

You want to know unfair? How about a loving husband and father saving lives is paralyzed from the waist down? You want unfair? How about a young man watch his mother pass away because of cancer and now blames himself for everything that went wrong? You want unfair?

How about sticking to your guns each and every week and people piss all over you.”

 

For the first time, a scowl forms on the face of Peyton Rice, the young woman that has always tried to stay positive is having a really hard time in doing so. She lowers her head for a moment and takes a deep breath before looking back at the camera through the reflection of the mirror….

 

“I won’t accept this, I can’t. I made a promise to my father, my trainers, my friends and family that I would never let this business change me. I meant that but it’s hard, when every single moment of my professional career is about attacks on me from the very first night I signed. I hate it, I truly hate where I am right now so I’m going to fix it, my way, it doesn’t matter how I do it but I will and it starts at Turmoil against you Carter Carruthers. You’re new, I really don’t even know what to think about you, what I do know is that you are hungry just like me. You want to be the Cruiserweight Champion just like me but unlike me…

You are okay with the Status Quo, I am not.

I knew that this sport was about competition, there was going to be a moment when I would question myself as to why I even bothered pursuing this career. I looked right into the eyes of David Helms and I believe him, Matty Stone, I believe him and Tommy Valentine, I believe him. Maybe I just wasn’t ready to experience it firsthand until now so Carter, I’m not sugar coating anything. I’m mad, I’m flustered and come Turmoil, our match?

Won’t be Pretty.”

 

She quickly shuts the camera off….

The Scene Opens….

 

The gorgeous Peyton Rice is seen with her hands tucked in the pockets of her jeans, wearing Vans and a NEWvolution t-shirt. Her long hair hangs down as she looks out into the city of New York in her apartment. She has a chance to get another shot at Christy Hightower for the Cruiserweight Championship. Peyton takes on a mystery opponent now, Niles Gray was fired from the UWA for Sexual harassment. Peyton is at a disadvantage right now but she doesn’t care and is ready for whatever comes her way….

She turns to the camera and smiles before speaking….

 

“I’m all smiles because I am so proud of what Ricky Octavius did living his dream of competing in the Taking Hold of the Flame Battle Royal last week. Isn’t that why we are here? To live out our dreams and showcase our talents? I know that the more I trained at Ante Up Academy the more I wanted to become a UWA Superstar and one day move up further to even the main roster and anywhere in this business where the opportunity comes knocking at the door. That is why I am so excited to have this opportunity after lasting to the end at Olympus and coming up short. Christy Hightower has proven she is a great champion and that excites me because beating her would be the first step in a long line of accomplishments that I hope to have as my career continues and what better way than to win this tournament. Sure, there are people still talking all this “chosen one” stuff, I am still taking in some heat from what Shaun Cruze did to Taylor Chase, I also know that I’m not well liked in the locker room, not by my attitude or who I am, no one ever takes the time to really get to know me, it’s because of who and what I am associated with…

This…

NEWvolution.

Recently, Shaun Cruze distanced himself from this, it was about bringing the business back to us, the wrestlers and you the fans. Orlando Cruze believed in that and all we were trying to do was keep his dream alive and at the same time do what we love best, compete. I know that for some they consider that going into my match on Monday that I maybe in a bit of a disadvantage and while that could be true, having no idea who my opponent will be I can assure you that I will be ready. I’m disappointed in Niles Gray, sure he was pretty pompous and all but he showed at Olympus that he was a top dog in the division. Now, I must be focused and prepared for anything and anyone, they know who I am, I don’t know who they are but does that matter to me?

No, I always am prepared to step into the ring against ANYONE.”

 

She looks away for a second, thinking of the possibilities of who exactly it could be, chances are it is no one that she has probably seen before and then again, it could be, she doesn’t know but Peyton is an athlete that is always ready for whatever curveball is thrown at her. Her green eyes look back at the camera as she speaks….

 

 “I don’t know who you are and what you represent and honestly I don’t care. I came to compete and I have one goal and that is to win this tournament and go on to face Christy Hightower again. I came so close last time, I got a taste of it and just that little bit was enough to motivate me to be better, to work harder and one day become the Champion and I can’t find a better time than now to do so. I don’t know what your intentions are, I don’t even know what kind of wrestler, what I do know is that you will have to bring your “A” Game to beat me in the first round and advance, I’m not going to be easy pickings. David Helms, Matty Stone and Tommy Valentine prepared me for situations like this, their training and their words of wisdom motivate me each time I think of my days in Ante Up but most of all?

The backlash against NEWvolution motivates me even more and why?

Because you hate a name, not what it stands for and soon?

I’ll make it “Pretty” obvious, how good I am.”

The Scene Opens….

 

The gorgeous Peyton Rice sits comfortably on her couch with jean shorts and a black tank top, her hair hanging down and bare feet curled up on the couch, her nails polished white. The beautiful cruiserweight was the last to be eliminated in the Battle Royal at Olympus and some disappointment set in but the young Rice is a fighter and someone that takes the positive out of everything, excited for her future. She leans in and hits record on her camera…

 

REC:

 

She looks into the camera with her green eyes and brushes her hair back, she seems to be troubled some but staying on the course…

 

“Olympus…

I was disappointed, sure. I would never lie about something like that, I came close but in the end Christy Hightower did what she was going to do, there are no excuses, right now she is on top of the world and I respect that, she is as advertised and I never once doubted that for a minute. I may not be a fan of her approach or her cockiness but you can’t really argue that with her right because she came to play and she won, so yeah, she has a right to show off a little and brag, I wouldn’t but she’s not me.

So, what does that mean for Peyton Rice? It means that I have to work harder and harder until I get another chance to be the Cruiserweight Champion, that’s the ultimate goal and I will get there. I’m not desperate or in any rush whatsoever, I still think that I am good enough to one day be the champion and maybe I will get that opportunity, making it to the finals of this Cruiserweight Tournament I see myself in at the next turmoil. Not very many people get a second chance so quickly, I’m sure some will argue that I lasted to the end of the Battle Royal but does it really matter? I lost that’s all I saw so I need to earn my way back, this tournament gives me the opportunity but what’s troubling?

My first-round opponent has just been let go from the UWA for sexual harassment?

Really Niles Gray!?”

 

Annoyed, she rolls her eyes and shakes her head. Peyton looked forward to facing Niles in the first round of the tournament after all he said. She looks back at the camera and speaks…

 

“I’m rather disturbed by everything that is happening in wrestling. We have Shaun Cruze, who I firmly believe is remorseful for what he has done but we have taken a beating for it, we as in NEWvolution. The rumors of Blake Mason behind the Orlando Cruze hacking is downright preposterous, how could anyone do something like that is simply just sick. Now we have Niles Gray being let go out of his contract all due to inappropriate behavior? Where does that leave me now? It’s the first round of the tournament, the UWA just came off its high from Olympus that saw everyone step up their game and show why this company can compete with ANYONE in the business and yet we are going to allow this sport to get marred by this?

What happened to competition? What happened to what wrestling was founded on? I was so happy to graduate Ante Up Academy, David Helms and the rest of the guys really showed me so much and taught me how to handle my own in the ring but what they never taught me was how to deal with all the negativity and I’m saddened by it so all I can promise is this….

I don’t care who I have to face, it never mattered to me, I will go into this match like I have all my matches, I am coming to compete, to get back to getting a chance at a title shot and in doing so beat the best competition this division has to offer and I will do it not getting involved with ANY of this mess.”

 

She takes a second to take a breather and look away. Peyton is obviously flustered but keeps herself together, looking back at the camera….

 

“Come Turmoil, I will be ready, there are no excuses, only results. I maybe young, even somewhat naïve but I’m not stupid, so whoever it is that takes Niles place, just remember one thing…

I’m not just another PRETTY face!”

 

Peyton doesn’t even smile, abruptly shutting the camera off…
